On this page, you will find the work that children can access at home each week.
Each week, children will be provided with three activities that are based on the current whole-class text. Once a week, children should read the latest edition of our school newspaper. At least once a week, children should get comfy and read for pleasure.
To develop their fluency with reading, children should access the Read Write Inc. video materials and/or the '60 second reads.' Please refer to Miss Middlehurst's ClassDojo message for more information. Read Write Inc. eBooks can be accessed via the links on the document below.
During our afternoon Microsoft Teams meetings, children will have the opportunity to listen to a story being read. Our current text is Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl which was voted for by the children.
Children will be provided with daily writing activities. This will include a range of spelling, punctuation and grammar activities. To extend their learning further, children should also access and engage with their Spelling Shed account.
For all writing opportunities, children should be encouraged to use the diagonal and horizontal strokes needed to join letters. To download handwriting activities, please access the 'Further Learning Opportunities' tab on the home-learning page.
Children will be provided with daily maths activities. Answer sheets will be provided alongside the worksheets. To extend their learning further, children should also access their Times Tables Rock Stars and NumBots account.
Any opportunities to support your child with telling the time would be beneficial. Children in Year 2 are taught how to tell the time in 5 minute intervals, including quarter to and quarter past the hour.
Children will be provided with five foundation subject activities per week.
For Year 2 children, this will be:
Monday: Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (P.S.H.E.)
Wednesday: Art and Design
Friday: Physical Education
To complete their science activities, children will need to access their Developing Experts account.
To extend their learning further, children could access their Purple Mash account.
All usernames and passwords can be found in your child's reading log.
If you have any questions or queries, please contact Miss Middlehurst via ClassDojo.
