Our key summary of physical activity:

At Robins Lane we want all our children to enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives. We want all our children to enjoy participating in physical activities and understand its benefits.

We encourage participation through:

- Employing qualified sports coaches to lead games teaching across our school

- Building the capacity of our teachers to deliver high quality games and PE lessons to develop skills and fitness

- Developing a range of extra curricular and lunchtime clubs around the school day including:  Dance clubs, football clubs, chess clubs and multi dicsipline activities. 

- Ensuring that Play Leaders plan a range of physical activities for children to enjoy at lunchtime

- Taking opportunities across our curriculum for children to enjoy active and healthy activities

- Swimming is part of our curriculum across Key Stage 2

- Through our curriculum ensuring that our children learn about healthy lifestyles

- Organising an annual Sports Days each year allowing all children the opportunity to participate and compete against other children.

- Working with families to promote healthy lifestyles

- Working with the community to promote healthy lifestyles

Celebrating and promoting children’s sporting achievement in school and out of school clubs.

 We also encourage high levels of participation in sports and competition through:

- Delivery of a high quality games and PE curriculum where children regularly have the chance to participate and compete against one another in a competitive sporting environment

- We are part of the St Helens First Network a programme of inter-school competitive sport for a range of sports

- Participation in various local authority events such as rugby and football. 

- Excellence is achieved through supporting children to work with other sporting organisations – e.g. St Helens Rugby League Club

- Sports role models are invited into school to inspire children through demonstrations of their skills and through conversing with the children.

- We celebrate all our childrens’ sporting achievements through newsletters and assemblies as well as our special end of year awards assembly and make sure that keeping active and healthy remains central to our vision.
