At Robins Lane we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life. In Nursery, Reception and Year 1 we provide a secure, safe and happy environment with high quality early learning which provides opportunites for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. We provide a secure foundation through partnership work with parents and personalised learning opportunities which ignite children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
Early Years Foundation Stage - Nursery and Reception
In Nursery and Reception our curriculum follows the EYFS statutory requirements. This consists of seven areas of learning and development; three prime areas and four specific areas:
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
These areas are delivered through planned, purposeful play, based on each child's individual needs and interests. Adults working with the children observe and assess the developmental progress of the children in order to plan appropriate play experiences.
We teach children to read through synthetic phonics, taking a multi-sensory approach which includes singing, actions and rhymes.
We learn and play indoors and outdoors, making the most of our large outdoor area. We also make good use of school music, PE and ICT resources and enjoy learning words in other languages.

In the mornings we have Maths and English and Fred Frog helps us with our reading. In the afternoons we do cross curricular topic based work and we also have Music and Spanish lessons with specialist teachers.
We have a lot of talented people in Phase 1 and children take part in lots of clubs such as dance, band practice, football and many more. We help to make Robins Lane Primary School a happy place to be!

During the morning we study Maths and English and in the afternoons we study cross-curricular based topic work such as Geography and History. Music and Spanish are taught by specialist teachers. We arrange lots of exciting trips to help us with our work.
In addition to all the cross-curricular work we do, many pupils are involved in a range of extra-curricular activities. These include choir, art club, rugby, table tennis club and many more.
In Year 6, pupils are given opportunities to take on roles and responsibilities within school. At present we have a head girl and boy, prefects, librarians, play leaders and various monitors.
